Facebook Pages switching from Likes to Followers: why it’s great for your business and your Counter!

We will try to explain to you where it comes from and why we will make sure it won’t push your Counter to the dark side!

Facebook announced on January 6th, 2021 that they will start rolling out their new Redesigned Pages. And one of the main change, is that they will focus only on the "Followers" number and not anymore on the "Likes". It doesn’t come as a surprise and was teased for months. Master Jedi Voltaire used to say: « Judge a man by his questions, rather than by his answers », and if you read this, we know you are a great person, so logically your next question must be:

What does it mean for my Facebook Counter?

And the easy and simple answer is: « For now, nothing! ».

This roll out and the new features, won’t be implemented on the business pages at the moment. The January announcement only concerned public figures and creators pages. It will for sure at some point, but we don’t have any indication regarding a specific timeline.

Once the switch to Followers-only happens to your business page, your Counter will start displaying your follower count, without you having to do anything! 😍 The change in our software will be automatic and will be effective for all pages 🙌.

Why is it great news for my business?

Focusing on Followers (instead of Likes) is even better for your businesses. As Facebook explains : « Unlike Likes, Followers of a Page represent the people who can receive updates from Pages ». The underlying idea is that following a page is a less involving step than liking it, which will encourage more people to connect to a business page.

Connecting your business with more people means better reach for any of your post, more views and so better ROI for your social media communication! Think of it as bringing your old Xwing to the garage, and come back to retrieve a Falcon Millenium! Sounds like a great deal, even if Chewbacca is not part of the package.

To sum it all up: at some point in 2021 your business page will default to Followers-only, your Facebook Counter will switch to counting your Followers in real time, without you having to do anything. This change will allow you to interact with ever more people, helping you grow an even larger community of Followers!
